Being a Study Support This talk is about supporting a student with a physical disability with or without speech. It looks at a range of issues from an assistant getting to know the student, sharing information between the Learning Support Department, helping students without speech to communicate in a group, to helping them write essays.
A Beginner's Guide to Interaction with a Person Without Speech who Uses a Wheelchair This session is a basic introduction to people with physical disabilities and no speech speech. If people have not talked to someone without speech before and are feeling uncomfortable, this talk is for them. It is packed with lots of simple techniques on how to strike up a conversation.

Independent Living and Staff Management In this talk, the meaning of independent living is in terms of people taking responsibility over their own lives. Being assertive is one of the important aspects of working successfully with staff. This is discussed in terms of talking to staff in an appropriate manner about how people want tasks undertaken. Both using a care agency and someone employing their own staff are discussed giving details on the responsibilities of all the parties.
